Climate Change Simplified

Climate has always changed, but since the beginning of the industrial revolution, we have more than doubled the amount of carbon dioxide in our atmosphere. This blanket of gas is trapping heat on our planet which is melting ice caps, and changing earths climate in drastic ways.

Too much CO2 is a huge problem. We are already above the safe levels of CO2 and it’s rising. Oceans are acidifying, glaciers are melting, floods, droughts, and food shortages are intensifying. 9 of the 10 hottest years on record have occured in this past decade with 2016 being the hottest year ever.

2 Ways to Address the Carbon Situation:

Stop Burning New Carbon

‘Do the Math’ is a short documentary that breaks down the fossil fuel situation in an easy to digest way. Fossil Fuel (oil) is the #1 Contributor… getting off fossil fuels is the most important task of our time. The transition needs to happen ASAP. It’s not happening fast enough. The two biggest emmiters, the U.S. and China, have not even signed Paris Climate Agreement.

Sequester New Carbon

Trees are the best/cost effective technology for carbon sequestration. Rainforests are the biggest carbon sink. The more trees we have on the planet, the more time we have to make the transition.

Why trees are the key to addressing

CLIMATE CHANGE

TREES ARE THE BEST CARBON TECHNOLOGY

Currently the most affordable and effective
way to sequester carbon from our atmosphere.

25% OF ALL CARBON

Deforestation puts more carbon into the atmosphere than all transportation combined.

NATURAL DISASTERS

Trees reduce the intensity of floods, drought, and famine. All are products of a changing climate.

COST EFFECTIVE

We can preserve some rainforest for $1 an acre and plant trees for as little as 10 cents each.

20% OF ALL OXYGEN

Rainforest is responsible for 20% of our global oxygen.

20% OF ALL FRESHWATER

Each acre of rainforest releases 20,000 gallons of water per year.

URGENT!

We are losing a football field of rainforest every second.
